If I would go to another country, I think the first thing I would look for is the city where to live. For me a great city have public transit so I don’t need a car. If it’s the case for you, here are some city to consider.
This is where I'm from. In our French speaking province this is the city where you will find more people talking and understanding English. Here you can visit le Biodôme de Montréal, la Basilique de Notre-Dame de Montréal, le Vieux-Port de Montréal and La Ronde!
Toronto is the largest city in Canada. If you go there you have to visit the CN tower! Canadian loves hockey, so you should visit the Hockey Hall of fame! But honestly the only time I went to Toronto was to go to Canada's Wonderland!
This is Canada's capital! Most of the people are bilingual (from what I have hear when I visit there). You need to go see the Parliament and the Rideau canal! It's beautiful!
If you want to practice your French skill, go there! Visit the Monmorency Fall , Château Frontenac and Old québec!
Go eat to a sugar shack
The are only open from March to May. You can go eat Canadian meal with as much maple syrup as you want. You sit at a table and waitress places the plates that you will share with your family or friends. Usually it's scrambled eggs, ham, potatoes, sausages in maple syrup,... You can dig in and like a buffet you can order more for the same price.
At the end of the meal, you can go eat maple taffy. It's like a candy! Take a stick and roll the taffy on it and eat it like a lollipop.
Ice skating
In most city you will find a arena where you can do ice skating. Since it's a public place, you will need to buy your own ice skates cause you cannot rent some in the arena (except of it's for tourist) . You can go buy some at a Canadian Tire or a Walmart (40-100$).
In the arena, everyone is going in circle the same way and when you will here the whistle everyone will turn and go the other way. If you are just a beginner, don't worry. You can go with the kids and practice in a specific place on the ice. At my local arena we use chair to practice our stability on our skates. In my city, in winter time, park have they own ice so people can ice skates outside.
POUTINE!
Do you like French fries, cheese and gravy! If yes, well that's the meal for you! They are plenty of variation.
Smoked meat
It's smoked meat served like a sandwich.
Butter tart
I had to look on Wikipedia for this. It's a pastry. I never cook that but I know it's good.
Ketchup chip
I used to like Ketchup chip, I think I ate to much cause I don't like them anymore.
Donair
Every time I go visit my grandma in New-Brunswick I eat one! It's hard to describe. Cheese, meat, donair bread and sauce and veggies.
Pâté chinois
